We have employees based in South Africa, UK, USA, Europe, Pakistan, Mauritius and Australia.
We are closely monitoring the on-going developments of COVID-19 and have BC plans and remote & home working BC plans in place to ensure the safety of our employees and our clients, as well as the seamless delivery of CMC’s business operations. Regular communication with all our stakeholders will be a key priority for the foreseeable future.
1. CO-ORDINATED BUSINESS CONTINUITY & RAPID RESPONSE TEAM
CMC has set up a dedicated business continuity team with the following mandate.
• Evaluate the level of potential impact and risk of the COVID-19 pandemic across all business functions and geographical areas, including Sales, Network Operations, Supply Chain, Logistics, Legal, Finance, IT, Facilities and Human Resources.
• Monitor and respond effectively to ongoing developments in consultation with senior management, as and when necessary.
• CMC has implemented the company’s Business Continuity plan supporting our customers and staff globally.
2. BUSINESS AND OPERATIONAL CONTINUITY
• All our employees in customer and supplier facing roles are working remotely and have access to videoconference, video and webinar capabilities to engage with customers, suppliers and vendors effective immediately.
• Our teams have the full capability to work remotely across different time zones and geographies.
• We are closely coordinating with our suppliers (whether in affected areas or otherwise) and our internal business units to guarantee continuity of our services to customers.
3. SAFETY OF OUR EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS
• We have implemented increased preventive hygiene measures across our local offices ensuring environmental cleaning plus ensuring staff awareness of the importance of respiratory etiquette and hand hygiene – this is to protect our business critical employees that cannot perform their job functions remotely, for the time being.
• Employees are encouraged to report if they feel unwell or if they suspect any possible exposure to the virus, whether within the workplace or outside. Any employees arriving at work with symptoms of acute respiratory illness (fever, cough, shortness of breath), or those developing during the workday, will be separated from other employees immediately, and sent home.
• All Business travel has been restricted internationally and only business critical engagements locally in South Africa will be permitted.
• A 14-day quarantine and remote work requirement is in place for any employee who has visited high risk areas as well as for any employee who may have come in contact with another person who has visited such high-risk areas within the past 14 days.
• Resourcing plans have been implemented to address any potential disruption e.g. flexible or home-working arrangements, splitting of teams or cross-training of staff who perform business critical functions.
As we continue to monitor the ongoing developments related to COVID-19 (Novel Coronavirus), our priorities are the safety of our employees and clients, and the continuity of our business operations.
We thank you for your continued trust and business.
